Mission Statements & Values
Mission & Philosophy
Our Mission
The Penticton Palliative Care Program is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to individuals facing terminal illness. Our mission is to alleviate suffering and enhance quality of life for patients, families, and support persons when curative treatments are no longer appropriate.
Core Focus
The continuum of care may include:
• Care in the patient’s home
• Community-based services
• Moog and Friends Hospice House
Clients admitted to Hospice House or hospital are regularly reviewed to explore the possibility of returning home with appropriate support. If a return home is not possible and specialized care is no longer needed, we work with families to support a transition to a suitable community care facility.
Our Philosophy
We believe that every individual deserves dignity, comfort, and respect at the end of life.
Our Hospice Palliative Care Program supports not just the patient, but their loved ones as well. Ensuring emotional, physical, and spiritual needs are met through coordinated care and thoughtful support.
Care is centered around the individual and their unique needs, with a team-based approach that includes medical professionals, counselors, volunteers, and family members.
Why This Matters
Hospice is more than a place, it’s a philosophy of care.
We are here to walk alongside individuals and families during one of life’s most vulnerable times, offering presence, peace, and dignity every step of the way.
Our Values
Compassion
We care deeply about the emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing of each individual we serve. Compassion is at the heart of every interaction, no matter how small.
Dignity
We believe that every person deserves to be treated with respect and honour. We uphold the dignity of our patients, families, and care teams in all circumstances.
Integrity
We are committed to transparency, honesty, and ethical care. Our actions reflect our responsibility to serve with trust and accountability.
Collaboration
We work together with patients, families, caregivers, and health professionals, to create a circle of support rooted in shared understanding and open communication.
Holistic Support
We see and support the whole person. Our care addresses not just physical symptoms, but also emotional, social, and spiritual needs throughout the end-of-life journey.
Presence
We show up with gentleness, patience, and attentiveness. We honour each moment and meet people where they are, offering calm presence over rushed solutions.
Community
We are part of something greater. Our work is supported by volunteers, donors, and local partners who help us bring comfort and care to those who need it most.
